How it began…

Hello, Abby here.

20 years ago in 2004, I set up the Yoga Room in Norwich, the first dedicated space for yoga in our Fine City. Pre-social media, and automated processes it was a bit spit and sawdust but, Ashtanga Vinyasa and Youtube yoga star Kino McGregor chose us for her first UK visit and the studio hosted many other international teachers and welcomed members of Norwich City Football Team as they first joined the Premier Division. Sadly, due to other commitments, I closed the studio in what was once the old Buddhist Centre on All Saints Green) in 2009.

Through a series of events in 2023, the time was suddenly right to open a yoga business again. If the Yoga Room was my baby then Yantra Studio is her grown-up daughter -  complete with state-of-the-art infra-red heating, a slick booking system and an incredible Riverside location in what was the NewMu Gallery/Cafe. However, the ethos of bringing excellent and accessible yoga to Norwich remains the same. I really hope you will join the Yantra family and experience all our boutique studio has to offer…

Our Values

Accessible.

We want everyone to enjoy yoga and endeavour to make our teaching as open and inclusive as possible. All our classes are beginner-friendly. Our building is also accessible and designed for wheelchair access being on street level with a ramp into the main studio and a disabled toilet. We offer a 15% discount on class packs and the first two tiers of memberships to; Students,  Blue Light, NHS & Teachers. Please email for more information.

There are also a certain amount of free spaces in return for volunteer work or karma yoga in the studio. Get in touch to find out more.

Authentic.

All our teachers have been hand-picked for their expertise, experience and ability to craft creative and effective classes. They have immersed themselves in many years of study and practice and have clear connections to the major yoga/pilates/dance lineages. However, we seek to make these practices relevant to contemporary lifestyles by passing on the teachings in a non-dogmatic and relavent way.

Creative.

Our studio is housed in the former NewMu Gallery and Cafe, a space originally founded by architect Andy Gibbs. This gallery once served as a vibrant meeting place for creative businesses, artists, and makers. Andy’s vision was to bring all kinds of creative people together and facilitate new ideas.

We want Yantra Studio to also reflect that vision. By finding pleasure in practices that unite movement and breath and encourage self-reflection, we can unlock our human potential and liberate our creative spark.
